i think this piece looks great, the background, and the wolves tail and mane has a lot of detail. the blood around the the wolves mouth is looks great which shows the characteristic of the wolf!! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
the line art on the...ummm i'm gonna say cat 4 the moment, looks great, and makes it the fur look more realistic, and the ears makes the character look original.
the shading is done well but I would say make it a bit softer especially on the wolfs' brown fur, use the same sort of effect that you used on the tail and mane and the same for the cat. you could also use it on the fur itself as well otherwise it kind of seems like you've done a fantastic background and then added in the characters at the last minute.
